Troops Calculator FAQs
Troop calculation is one of the more straightforward calculators on Lordrush Hub. However, many players have questions about how troops interact with other segments of the game. In particular, we frequently get questions about march and rally sizes, troop tiers quantity vs quality, and training building level parity.
How do I increase my march size and capacity?
March capacity (how many troops you can send per march) comes primarily from two sources: Command Center level and the Regimental Expansion research in your tech tree. Regimental Expansion is one of the few research paths in the Battle tech tree that even free-to-play players who are otherwise deprioritizing battle research should prioritize. More troops per march makes you a better rally joiner, improves your Bear Hunt score (and thus rewards), and improves your gathering efficiency (up to a certain point). The number of march queues you can run simultaneously is separate and comes from the Command Tactics research, VIP level 6, and the Extra March Queue pack purchase.
Is it worth upgrading troops to higher tiers, or should I focus on quantity?
Higher tier troops have better base stats, which matters because rally bonuses from your rally leader apply multiplicatively to those base values. This means higher tier troops benefit more from a strong rally leader than equal-count lower tier troops. Getting to higher troop tiers as quickly as possible is a major milestone for any player who wants to contribute meaningfully to alliance rallies. Don't neglect upgrading troop tiers in favor of training more lower-tier troops. In the late game the tier gap is the dominant factor.
In the opening days of the game, you will be unlocking new troop tiers too quickly and getting bonus low-tier troops from mission rewards for troop upgrading to make sense. But once you get to around tier-7 or tier-8 troops, the rate of new tier unlocking slows down considerably (unless you are spending). This is a good time to start promoting some of those old troops that are cluttering up your marches.
Do all my training buildings need to be the same level?
Not necessarily, but they all contribute to training speed and capacity for all troop types. This is the counterintuitive part: your Infantry Camp, Archer Camp, and Lancer Camp each provide training speed and capacity that applies to all troop types, not just their own troop type. So if you're prioritizing archers and infantry, you still benefit from upgrading your Lancer Camp because it boosts your overall training throughput. The Troop Calculator accounts for combined training buildings when estimating time-to-train targets.
Please note that due to Town Center prerequisites, you won’t be able to have your troop buildings lag more than 3 levels behind other troop type buildings. So you will naturally need to keep them “close enough”, but there is no special bonus for having them all be at the same level exactly.
