Hero Shards Calculator FAQs

Questions players have about hero shard costs, key usage, and unlock strategy, typically when using a calculator to plan hero investments.

Is it worth building a hero past 4 stars?

4 stars unlocks all of a hero's skills, which is a major power breakpoint for every hero. Meanwhile, the 5th star gives significant additional stats, but the cost in shards is also significant compared to the gain. (You can see this in the Hero Shard calculator module.)

There is not a one-size-fits-all answer to this question. If you are building a hero for something where only the skills matter and not the stats (such as a rally joiner hero, or a Bear Hunt lead hero of infantry or lancer), then you don’t get much return for that 5th star. If you can make good use of the stats (e.g. because you are a spender expecting to lead rallies or because you are going to use this archer hero for Bear Hunt), then it might make sense.

You can use the Hero Shard Calculator to see how many more hero shards you need to max out a hero.

Is it worth spending gems to unlock heroes through Hero Roulette or Hall of Heroes?

Yes… and more aggressively than most new players think! Gems accumulate faster than expected even for free-to-play players, and the time value of having certain heroes sooner compounds across months of play. Even spending 150,000+ gems on a single Hero Roulette event to max it out the rewards becomes viable later in the game as your gem income continues to increase.
