Optimization Goal

Maximize total stats with bottleneck-aware scoring

Select Build Profile

Soft prioritization based on troop formation weights. All charms are still considered, but higher-weighted troop types get preference. Uses the same weight profiles as Hero Gear.

PvE focus: High Infantry survivability + Archer DPS for Vikings, Bear Hunt, Mystic Trial.

Your Builds

1.0 = raw weights, 1.25 recommended, 2.0 = strong

Higher values = stronger troop type preferences. Above-median types get boosted, below-median get reduced.

Governor Charms FAQs

Governor Charms are a parallel upgrade system to Governor Gear, unlocking at Town Center level 25 and providing health and lethality bonuses to your troops in Expedition combat. Players tend to have many questions about Governor Charms because of the way they are presented in the UI to players versus how they actually work.

What's the difference between Governor Charms and Governor Gear?

In Lordrush, Governor Charms are presented as adornments for your Governor Gear. Despite sharing the same UI menu in-game, they're complementary systems that cover different stats. Governor Gear (unlocks at TC22) gives attack and defense. Governor Charms (unlocks at TC25) gives health and lethality. Together they cover all four main combat stat categories. Both apply globally to all your marches. If you want a fully rounded combat profile, you'll eventually want to develop both systems, but governor gear unlocks first, so most players have a head start there.

Does it matter which slot I put a charm in?

No, Governor Charm slot placement within a single piece of Governor Gear doesn't matter at all. A Governor Charm of the same troop type and the same level gives exactly the same stat bonus regardless of which slot you equip it in. This is different from how some players assume it works (especially those coming from other games where slot positioning has meaning).

For clarity, upgrading a Governor Charm in a different piece of Governor Gear may have the bonus impact a different troop type. There are 6 potential Governor Gears in which Governor Charms can be added: 2 each for infantry, lancer, and archers. So be mindful when upgrading that you don’t select the wrong troop type!

Can Governor Charms be moved between pieces of Governor Gear once built?

No, there is unfortunately no way to move Governor Charms from one piece of Governor Gear to another. Despite the implications of the gear/charm design language that Lordrush uses, these are meant to be linear upgrades for your character over time. This means the best way to “correct” a suboptimal Governor Charm placement is to build around it with future upgrades to achieve desired stat balance. This underscores how important the Governor Charm Optimizer module can be for your account development.

Do Governor Charms have set bonuses like Governor Gear?

No. Unlike Governor Gear, which has set bonuses at 3 pieces and 6 pieces, Governor Charms have no set bonuses at all. Each charm piece is evaluated entirely on its individual stats. This means you don't need to worry about matching sets when building out your charms; just focus on the troop type and level of each piece. Our Governor Gear Optimizer module is calibrated accordingly.

Should I upgrade Governor Charms during specific events, or is it fine to upgrade anytime?

Same rules as Governor Gear: always try to upgrade during events. Hall of Governors awards points for Governor Charm upgrades. And just like with Governor Gear, the point scoring is non-linear. Don't assume that upgrading higher-rarity charms always gives you the best event return on investment. For help with the calculations, our Governor Charm Optimizer module will display the expected event points for your upgrade.

What materials are needed for Governor Charms, and what's the bottleneck?

Lordrush Governor Charms use a separate set of crafting materials from Governor Gear, which means they don't share the same resources. For Governor Charms, there are only two materials, Charm Guides and Charm Designs.

As with Governor Gear, there will typically be one bottleneck material that limits your upgrade pace while others accumulate in excess. In this case, the bottleneck will almost always be Charm Designs. They are harder to come by as event rewards than Charm Guides, and the majority of Governor Charm upgrade levels require more Charm Designs than Charm Guides. (See our Governor Charms reference data table for exact numbers.) Therefore you should almost always prioritize acquiring Charm Designs over Charm Guides.

How do charm bonuses stack with research and pet bonuses?

All charm bonuses (health and lethality) stack additively with the same stats from research, pets, island buildings, and other sources. There's no multiplicative stacking; it all goes into one additive pool per stat. Even still, the magnitude of bonuses you can get from Governor Charms is rather large and impacts all marches globally, so it is still a worthwhile investment arena for your account.

I'm behind on both Governor Charms and Governor Gear, so which should I prioritize?

Governor gear unlocks three levels earlier (Town Center level 22 vs 25) and the materials are initially more abundant. Naturally some players will have more developed Governor Gear than Governor Charms in the earliest days of the game.

At the same time, Governor Gear tends to hit diminishing returns a bit sooner than Governor Charms, which can leave players in the mid-game saying that they feel they “overinvested” in Governor Gear.

Both of these phenomena contribute to players asking this question, but they get at a fundamental truth of Lordrush. The more you invest in any single aspect of your account, the less return there is from incremental investment in that same domain. So the answer of which to prioritize for the best return is a bit different from player to player.

We are working on extending the Optimizer to handle these sorts of “between domain” optimization problems, but for now you should try to build both whenever you can (since they require different materials). And if you are choosing between the two for e.g. a pack purchase, it’s helpful to use our current Governor Gear and Governor Charm optimizers to see how much the incremental materials of that pack will translate into stats.

All of that said, given most players tend to be shorter on health and lethality as well as the diminishing returns curve we observed between Governor Gear and Governor Charms, it is more likely that the average player will get a greater impact from subsequent investment in Governor Charms.
