Have you ever been just a few Forgehammers short of a Mastery upgrade for your Hero Gear? Or maybe you had a great point-scoring opportunity in a couple Lordrush events that required you to use Forgehammers you didn’t have?

Whatever the case may be, this brief guide will show you the exact steps you can take to get free Forgehammers in Lordrush on demand in the early game by intelligently combining a few game mechanics.

Want the exact Hero Gear upgrade to buy next? The Hero Gear Optimizer does the math for you.

Great rewards await

(Great rewards await!... if only you had a few extra Forgehammers for that War Preparation event…)

1. The Basic Challenge

You have probably seen that there are growth quests in Lordrush which provide you with Forgehammers as you raise your gear to higher experience level. The challenge, especially as a free-t0-play Lordrush player, is that gear experience required gets significantly greater each level and you are probably in short supply of materials. You also, wisely, realize that it is not ideal to put all of your experience into one single piece of gear given these diminishing returns.

This makes it harder for your to achieve these growth quests and get the Forgehammers because you do not want to make suboptimal long-term account decisions for short-term gains.

However there is

However, there is a way that you can have the best of both worlds: free Forgehammers without sacrificing long-term progression!

2. The Solution

There is a mechanic in Lordrush that allows you to redistribute Gear XP between various pieces of Hero Gear. You can do this for free once per gear piece per day, otherwise it costs gems.

To take advantage of the free reforge mechanic, you need to first find your heroes with gear that has experience.

Then you need

Then you need to unequip all the levelled gear pieces from all heroes so that they are in your bag, except for one piece we will be upgrading. When that is done, you can hit the reforge icon in the bottom right of the Hero Gear equipping menu, called “Gear Details”.

Warning do not

WARNING: Do NOT select Mastery Reforge for this next step or you will potentially remove Forgehammers from gear at a 50% loss rate. This will more than offset any free hammers you will obtain from this trick, so be extremely careful. Instead, we are going to use the Enhancement Reforge

This will allow

This will allow you to select each piece of Hero Gear and remove the Gear XP applied to it, putting that Gear XP back into your bag.

You can then use this Gear XP to apply to the one piece of Hero Gear you did not reforge and take it up to the maximum possible level. Please note that the maximum level you can bring the gear to is also capped by your Town Center level, so you may not be able to clear every free Forgehammer quest in one go. But you can always repeat this trick later.

In any case

In any case, once you have applied all this newly liberated XP to a single gear, you should see that you have cleared one (or more) of the free Forgehammer quests, so go collect your rewards!

One could argue

One could argue that this is technically not getting “free” Forgehammers because you will get them eventually if you keep playing long enough. And to some extent this is true, but the broader point is that there are key moments in your Lordrush journey where you may need these Forgehammers on short notice, such as for scoring points in an event to get free resources, gems, and speedups.

But even if that wasn’t the case, simply pulling these Forgehammers forward in your Lordrush progression will allow you to get stronger Hero Gear sooner, which means potentially accelerating the tempo of your account through better Bear Hunt scores sooner (and thus more Forgehammers rewards). Or it might allow you to clear higher level Beasts or Terrors that you would otherwise not have been able to beat, again, getting better rewards per stamina spent.

However you slice it, this is a valuable trick for an early game Lordrush player, provided you put everything back to normal when you are done.

3. Putting Everything Back to Normal

Now that we have the free Forgehammers, we need to “clean up” so that you aren’t left with one piece of powerful Hero Gear and weak everywhere else. To do this, you can simply unequip that high-leveled Hero Gear and use your free daily reforge for that piece of gear.

Now you should

Now you should be in a position where you have all of your Hero Gear without any experience and a bunch of Gear XP in your bag. Now all that is left to do is put that experience back on your Hero Gear in a more balanced way (and of course, use your Forgehammers!)

But what actually IS the ideal way to allocate Gear XP and Forgehammers to your Hero Gear? Well, we have an entire guide on Hero Gear for you to check out if you want to understand the theory. Alternatively, you could just go right to our Hero Gear Optimizer in order to have us calculate it for you and give you the mathematical best investment possible for your current resources and Hero Gear setup.
